Natural gas (NG) is considered a cleaner option than other fossil fuels. For the past few years, ICL has been converting our energy systems in its major production sites in Israel to NG, replacing fuels such as fuel oil (Mazut), diesel and naphtha.
By the end of 2019, 95% (40/42) of ICL Israel’s main energy-consuming installations were converted into NG, and 90% of the total remote fuel consumption of ICL’s Global facilities was derived of NG. During 2016 two ICL China Sites (Shandong, YBKGT) made a transition from Coal and Diesel to liquid natural gas (LNG), and in 2017-8 ICL Rotem Zin and ICL Haifa (F&C) transitioned from fuel oil to NG. The economic savings created by this strategic transition are estimated at USD 80 million annually.
